Elizabeth Kendall Few was born in a small town in South Carolina in 1973.
Her fascination with art began at an early age, though she had little exposure to it. She was drawn to a book of kaleidoscopic patterns in elementary school and began creating her own.
She received a BA in Art History from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, and it was during this time that she spent a year in London and Florence studying art and architecture and thus began painting.
After graduating from college and without delay, Elizabeth moved to the East Village in New York City and enrolled at Parsons School of Design where she earned a degree in Fashion Design. She parlayed her talents into her work as a fashion stylist for editorial and commercial projects, as well as costume design for music video, short film, and Off-Broadway theater. During her career in fashion, she worked with many designers, including Mark Jacobs, Tom Ford for Gucci, Carolina Herrera, Oscar De La Renta and Ralph Lauren.
Elizabeth made the decision to leave the chaotic and consumptive culture of fashion in search of a more fulfilling channel for her creativity. She was writing, painting, and involved in various aspects of design, while continuously seeking the medium that allowed her to fully engage herself with the world around her. She began experimenting with collage after the profound inspiration she got from viewing the “Quilts of Gee’s Bend” exhibition at the Whitney Museum in 2003.
Elizabeth also finds fulfillment designing interiors. From a strong belief in the metaphysical importance of good design, springs a driving impulse to create dynamic spaces that can enchant and inspire. The social and collaborative aspects of this work also provide a welcome antidote to the solitude of the studio.
She has designed interiors in New York, Los Angeles and post-Katrina New Orleans, where one of her collages serves as a centerpiece. She recently relocated from Brooklyn to Los Angeles.
